Renovatie-Pro NL takes that whole process off your hands. You have one point of contact from the first visit to the handover, in English, and we make sure every trade starts at the right moment.
A new bathroom, with one point of contact
In a bathroom renovation everything depends on everything else. The pipes have to be in place before the tiling starts, the drain needs the right fall before the walk-in shower goes in, and the wiring for the mirror and lighting has to be finished before the walls are closed. If one step slips, the rest moves with it.
That is why we manage the whole bathroom ourselves. You discuss your wishes with one person, who makes the schedule and directs the tradespeople. You always know where things stand, and you do not have to coordinate between different companies yourself.
What a bathroom renovation includes
A complete bathroom renovation follows a fixed set of steps. We take care of all of them.
Strip-out and preparation
The old bathroom comes out: tiles, sanitaryware, pipework and, where needed, the screed floor. We then check the subfloor and the walls, so the new bathroom is built on a sound base.
Plumbing and electrics
Water and waste pipes are moved to where the new layout needs them. A walk-in shower needs a proper fall and a good drain. The wiring for lighting, the mirror and underfloor heating, if you want it, is also installed at this stage.
Tiling
We lay wall and floor tiles straight and level, including large formats and tiles with a marble or terrazzo look. Around the shower and the bath we make sure the finish is watertight.
Sanitaryware and walk-in shower
Wall-hung toilet, vanity unit, walk-in shower with a glass screen or a freestanding bath: we install and connect everything. You choose the sanitaryware yourself, or we advise you.
Finishing and lighting
Sealant, mirror, lighting and accessories complete the bathroom. We only hand over once everything works and looks right.
Renovating a bathroom in an Amsterdam home
In Amsterdam the bathroom is often small, on an upper floor and part of an apartment building. That calls for a different approach than a detached house. Materials have to go up the stairs, waste has to come down, and the neighbours want to know when the drilling starts.
On a small footprint every centimetre counts. A level-access walk-in shower, a wall-hung toilet and a floating vanity unit make a small bathroom feel larger. We are happy to think along with you about a layout that fits.
Good to know if you are new to the Netherlands
Most apartments in Amsterdam belong to a homeowners' association, the VvE (Vereniging van Eigenaars). The VvE sometimes has rules about work on shared pipes or about sound insulation under the floor. During the first visit we look at your situation and take those rules into account in the schedule.
Do you rent your home? Then you need your landlord's permission before any work starts. If you own the apartment, it is worth checking the VvE rules early, because approval can take time.
You can reach us in English by WhatsApp, phone or email. We go through the quote and the schedule with you in English, so you know exactly what will be done and when.
Choices for your new bathroom
A bathroom lasts a long time, so you will live with today's choices for years. We go through them with you during the first visit, so you do not have to decide halfway through the work.
Walk-in shower or bath
A level-access walk-in shower is practical, spacious and easy to keep clean. A bath takes more room, but for families with young children it is often essential. A larger bathroom can fit both, for example with a freestanding bath under the window.
Tiles
Large tiles look calm and have fewer grout lines. Terrazzo and marble looks are popular, as are warm beige tones with a matt finish. For the shower floor we choose a tile that does not get slippery when wet.
Sanitaryware and taps
A wall-hung toilet and a floating vanity unit keep the floor clear and the room tidy. Black, gold or stainless steel taps largely set the look. A concealed tap or rain shower needs pipework inside the wall, which we plan in advance.
Lighting and ventilation
An LED mirror, recessed spotlights and a light strip in the niche finish the bathroom. Good ventilation matters just as much, so moisture clears quickly after a shower and mould does not get a chance.
What determines the price of a bathroom renovation
Every bathroom is different, so we always make a tailored quote. The main factors that determine the price:
- The size of the bathroom and the amount of tiling
- Whether pipes and drains have to be moved
- The sanitaryware, tiles and taps you choose
- Whether underfloor heating or extra electrics are added
- The condition of the subfloor and walls after the strip-out
- How easy the bathroom is to reach inside the building
How a bathroom renovation works
Send us a few photos of your current bathroom on WhatsApp, or call us. We then come to see it, discuss your wishes and make a clear quote with a schedule.
During the work you have one point of contact. We coordinate the tradespeople and leave the space tidy at the end of each day. At the handover we go through the bathroom together with you.
Is the kitchen next? We also do the building work around a kitchen renovation, and we can plan both in one schedule.
